I asked her for some and she reminded me of how ungrateful I was when I was 16, but gave them back to me.

I haven't taken them off since."

and a great time in Chicago! It was put on so tightly so that it wouldn't fall out when I was jamming out hardcore!"

Any tricks or tips for layering bracelets?

"Don't overdo it, keep to 3-4 styles, and the amount of bracelets are key!

If you have small wrists like I do, you don't always have to use every single bracelet that comes in a set."

Any great stories behind the arm candy?
"The silver hook bracelet is from my first vacation with my now husband in St. John—still my favorite and most-cherished trip.

The onyx beads bracelet is from my favorite Buddhist temple in Taipei where I grew up.

It's a piece of home for me and gives me a feeling of peace and protection.

It was taken and prayed for by all the monks in the temple, across all the gods' alters...So I'm covered."

Have any tricks or tips for layering bracelets?
"Always mix materials, colors, glam vs. rock, hard vs. soft, ect...More is more.

Don't be afraid. Don't match.

Pile it on! Most importantly, wear pieces that have meaning to you so that each has a story and reminds you of a moment in time.

Then, it doesn't matter how you wear it."

Isabelle Rancier, Designer, Refinery29

Where are your bracelets from?

"Miansai cuff from Bird in Brooklyn
$10 Casio from one of those weird wholesale stores on the stretch of Broadway between 20th and 30th streets
Tricolor bracelet from a shuttered Colombian store in Soho
Purple bracelet from Babel Fair
Multi-colored friendship bracelet was a birthday gift from a friend—he gave my sister and boyfriend the exact same for their b-days.
The white bracelet is from Madewell."

Any great stories behind them?
"The Miansai cuff is my absolute favorite accessory in the world—I wear it every day.

It's originally a men's piece and is basically a fancy handcuff, fastening with a screwpost.

I consider my tattoo an accessory: It's a little owl perched on a branch.

I got it six years ago and it bears no special significance.

The owl is actually a good friend's elementary school mascot.

Let's say it was a youthful gesture."

Tricks or tips for layering?
"I like a good chaotic armful.

I think the key however is to make sure they are pretty snug on your wrist, so they aren't all overlapping and piling up on top of one another."

The rubber band came from a bunch of celery I got the other day from Whole Foods."

Have any tricks or tips for layering bracelets?
"Every one of my bracelets have special memories tied to them.

I pick up new pieces throughout my travels, I try to find things that show off my character, and make me smile.

Any great stories behind the arm candy?
"The orange string was bought on the street in Mumbai from a Hindi.

I went back the next day of hiring him to make me hundreds of safety bracelets, but I couldn't find him and I looked for hours.

The bracelet cost about 10 cents, so he would have been set for a while.

I went to Mumbai with Fern Mallis for Lakme Fashion Week and have never taken this bracelet off.

I wash it with Kiehl's soap only."

Have any tricks or tips for layering bracelets?
"My motto is more is more.

My bracelets strangle my wrist but like in Brokeback Mountain—'I just can't quit them.' "

Any great stories behind the arm candy?
"Have had these [Swarovski crystals] since age 15, love all the colors.
Daniel Espinoza is a popular Mexican jeweler with stores all over Mexico.
The owner of restaurant La Voile Rouge started making these bracelets out of men's shirts and giving them to clients, now they sell them at Colette.
Lisa [Salzer] is a great friend and I love her "
Bracedlets" - they are super popular!
Gag et Lou is from Paris and I love all their symbols.

This is my gun.
Escape to NY festival rocked! They gave these out night one.
Russell Simmons gave this bracelet to me at one of his Help Africa events.

It shows my solidarity for the famine in Africa donating to the Feed Project.
Love this classic Montblanc Timewalker, works with all.
The Burkina Faso Project ones are made out of recycled garbage in Burkina Faso, Africa.
Anndra Neen: Phoebe and Annette are dear friends.

We went to high school together in Mexico City."

Have any tricks or tips for layering bracelets?
"Wear color and wear what you love."

The Giles + Brother bracelet—I never take it of, I feel like all of NY has this bracelet.

"Three Braced-Lets kindly gifted by the lovely Lisa Salzer of WlU Frost at last weekend's escape to a New York festival
Pink and blue friendship bracelet Connie brought me back from her family trip to Mexico"

Have any tricks or tips for layering bracelets?
"I like to divide my bracelets and bangles up by gene! Today, I've got metals and edgier pieces on my left hand, and my colorful 'I'm stil a five-year-old-at-heart' bracelets on my right.

Also, if you favor armfuls of chunky bangles but are at your computer keyboard all day, do your coworkers a favor and remove them before any heavy typing.

Otherwise, things could get loud."

Kristian Laliberte, Senior Editor, Refinery29

Where is each bracelet from? (from the hand upward)

Left arm:

"Yellow Bracedlet—a collab between Lisa Salzer and her sister.
Rita & Zia Cross Bracelet
Miansai wrap bracelet
Tateossian bracelet
Miansai hook bracelet
Evil eye bracelet from Mykonos
Cartier charity bracelet
Tiffany & Co. cuff"

Right arm:
"Miansai double wrap rope bracelet
Giles & Brother railroad cuff
Bracedlet
Links of London friendship bracelets
Burberry bracelet"

Any great stories behind the arm candy?
"I bought maybe 10 of those evil eye bracelets in Mykonos when I was there for my 21st birthday.

They fall off a lot! This is my very last one, and it's been on my wrist for over two years.

I think it still has some work to do.
We were shooting something for R29, and Lisa Salzer (the jeweler behind Lulu Frost), came in carrying a sack full of those Bracedlets.

They are the new, way-cooler Silly Bandz.
The black double wrap Miansai was a gift from Michael Saiger, the designer.

It was way too big, so he told me to cut it and then burn the end.

I cut it way too short, so what you can't see was the slight redness as my circulation is slowing."

Have any tricks or tips for layering bracelets?
"I think seven inches up is as high as you wanna go.

I like to color coordinate, but I appreciate a good mix'n'match on others.

Also, make sure you know which bracelets you can never take off and those that might start to smell.

I'd suggest not wearing a Nantucket braided rope bracelet for more than three weeks."
